This is the town of San Fele, overlooking the countryside of Northern Basilicata. There are many Tronnolone's still living here. |
| I am guessing that this is the street on which the house is located where John Tronolone was born. As his birth record states, John was born on Via Santa Lucia. The church towards the right of this picture is the church of Santa Lucia, closed since an earthquake some time ago. Although the street is no longer named Via Santa Lucia, it is likely that it was so named at some point. | ![]() |
| Here is a picture of Elizabeth's birth record from the Vital Records office of the Municipio di San Fele. I have transcribed and translated it below as best I could: | |

In the year eighteen hundred, ninety-eight, on the thirtieth day of January, at one o'clock in the afternoon and thirty-five minutes, in the Comunity Office. Before me, Alfonso Leapaticci[?], delegated Secretary by the Mayor with the act of the tenth of June, eighteen hundred, ninety-six [???] approved as Official of the State of the Town of San Fele, appeared Giovanni Tronnolone, of thirty-seven years, a land owner living in San Fele, who has declared to me that at eleven o'clock in the morning and [blank] minutes of the twenty-sixth day of the current month, in the house set on Via Montone at number 10, from Elisabetta Pascale, homemaker, his wife, living with him, was born a baby of feminine sex that he presented to me, and to whom is given the name of Elisabetta. At the above and at this act were present some
testimonies: That this present act was read by those involved is [???] undersigned and only read to the others, being illiterate: Giovanni Tronnolone Alfonso Lipaticci[?] |
| This is the main page of Elizabeth's Italian passport. She remained a citizen of Italy throughout her life, remaining in immigrant status in the United States. I also have her Alien Registration Card, but there is nothing really of interest on there, other than the date and port of entry (10/11/01, Hoboken). | ![]() |

These pictures are taken from Ken Brown's web site. The one to the right is of the Tronolone family, probably after they came to America. The girl to the left of John Tronolone could be young Elizabeth, but I am not at all certain. To the bottom is Elizabeth Tronolone the elder. To the bottom left, John and Elizabeth Tronolone are relaxing on the beach on Cony Island. |
